Zinc is a critical mineral for so many body functions, including allergies, skin health and immune function. Zinc levels in Australian soils can be low, so even with a good diet, levels can be low. Many individuals that we see are showing signs of zinc deficiency. A sure sign of zinc deficiency is white spots that appear on fingernails.

Zinc is also specifically anti-viral, so adequate zinc levels are needed to help protect against catching cold and flu viruses.

Zinc cream, now available in ‘invisible’ forms, is a healthy, low chemical form of sun protection, and doubles as a source of zinc, as the skin will absorb it.

In assessing zinc levels, in your consultation we do a zinc taste test, look at the tissue levels in Hair Mineral Analysis (for children under 13 years) or an Oligoscan for teenagers and adults.
